Both protect your paint, but in very different ways. Understand what each one does before you choose.
Two different jobs
Paint protection film is a physical layer that helps guard against stone chips and light scratches. A ceramic coating is a thin liquid-applied layer that bonds to the surface to add gloss and make cleaning easier.
Impact protection
PPF has real thickness, so it can absorb minor impacts from road debris. A ceramic coating is far thinner and is not designed to stop stone chips.
Gloss and cleaning
Ceramic coatings are hydrophobic, so water and dirt slide off more easily. Many owners apply a coating over PPF to combine impact protection with easier washing.
Which should you choose?
If chips and scratches are your main concern, start with PPF on high-exposure areas. If gloss and ease of cleaning matter most, ask about a coating. For many vehicles, the two work best together.
